ABOUT US
The Dovedale School Community
Dovedale School is a co-educational, state full primary school. The school recognises its responsibility as a focal point for the community and prides itself on the many opportunities it provides for people to come together. Our school community is diverse and includes families involved in primary industries, farming, trades, professional services, contracting, lifestyle properties and single-parent households. A strong and active PTA supports the school through ongoing fundraising, enabling us to enhance resources and opportunities for student learning.
We enjoy strong and inclusive links with local schools and are an active member of the Moutere Hills cluster of learners. We maintain established connections with Motueka High School, and our Year 7 and 8 students participate in a range of transition programmes, including Gifted and Talented workshops throughout the year. We also have strong links with a pre-school playgroup located on our school site, supporting smooth transitions into school.
The school is staffed by a teaching Principal, one full-time class teacher, one Principal Release Teacher, one Teacher Aide, part-time secretary, a cleaner and a caretaker. A wide range of external agencies support the school, including the Public Health Nurse, School Dental Service, advisory services, property maintenance providers and the Ministry of Education.
Our facilities include two classrooms, a multi-purpose room and a community-owned library. The school also features a swimming pool, PE shed, hard court area, adventure playground, expansive grassed play areas, a native planting area and a shaded sandpit. We are well resourced in digital technologies, with a range of devices and presentation equipment to support teaching and learning.
We offer a comprehensive outdoor education programme and utilise strong partnerships with external providers such as the Abel Tasman Trust and Whenua-iti to enrich learning experiences. These opportunities support students to develop resilience, teamwork and confidence while connecting with the unique natural environment of our region.
